  • 1 box vanilla cake mix
  • Ingredients listed on the cake mix box oil, water, eggs
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla bean paste
  • 1 –2 tbsp milk
  • 1 baked and cooled cake
  • 1/3 to 1/2 cup frosting
  • Heart-shaped silicone mold
  • Lollipop sticks
  • Candy melts red, white, pink
  • 1 –2 tsp vegetable shortening optional
  • Heart-shaped sprinkles
  • Edible glitter

Instructions
 

  • Prepare the cake mix according to package instructions. Let the cake cool completely.
  • Crumble the cooled cake into a bowl. Add 1/3 cup frosting and mix until dough-like. Adjust if necessary.
  • Press the mixture into heart-shaped molds. Insert lollipop sticks. Freeze for 1 hour.
  • Melt candy melts in microwave, stirring every 30 seconds. Add shortening if too thick.
  • Dip each heart pop into the coating. Tap off excess. Place upright to dry.
  • Decorate with sprinkles or glitter while coating is wet. Let set until firm.

Notes

- Ensure the cake is completely cool before crumbling.
- Adjust frosting quantity for the right texture.
