  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Pink food coloring
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the egg and vanilla bean paste until fully combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the wet mixture, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to 1/4 inch thickness. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out cookies and place them on the prepared sheets.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are just golden. Cool completely.
  • For the icing, mix powdered sugar, milk, and a few drops of pink food coloring until smooth. Decorate cooled cookies and let the icing set before serving.

Notes

- Allow cookies to cool completely before icing to prevent melting.
