- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup diced yellow onion
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 3 tablespoons salted butter
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup sour cream
- 10.5 ounces can cream of mushroom soup
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cooked egg noodles for serving
1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef with diced onion and minced garlic until cooked through.
2. Drain the excess grease from the skillet.
3. Return the skillet to the stove over medium heat. Add butter and melt.
4. Stir in flour and whisk until absorbed by the butter.
5. Pour in beef broth and whisk until the mixture thickens, about 2-3 minutes.
6. Reduce heat to medium; mix in sour cream and cream of mushroom soup until smooth.
7. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Adjust thickness with more broth if needed.
8. Return the beef to the skillet and heat through.
9. Serve over cooked egg noodles.
For extra richness, use full-fat sour cream.
