Ingredients
  

Fruit Leather Base

  • 2.5 cups unsweetened applesauce Provides body and moisture
  • 1 packet Kool-Aid drink mix (flavor of choice) Supplies intense flavor and color
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar Balances tartness and helps the leather set
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Brightens the overall flavor profile

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 170°F (75°C) or to its lowest setting.
  • Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  • In a bowl, whisk together the applesauce, Kool-Aid powder, granulated sugar, and lemon juice until completely smooth.
  • Pour the mixture onto the prepared baking sheet and spread it into an even, thin layer about 1/8-inch thick.

Baking

  • Bake for 4–6 hours, checking at the 4-hour mark for doneness.
  • Remove the tray from the oven and let the fruit leather cool completely on the liner.

Cutting and Storing

  • Use scissors or a sharp knife to cut the cooled leather into strips.
  • Roll each strip up with the parchment paper still attached to prevent sticking.

Notes

Use a silicone mat for easier peeling. Check doneness every 20-30 minutes after 4 hours. Store in airtight container for up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months.
