Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 8 oz semisweet chocolate chopped
  • 1 1/4 cups brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • White icing for decoration

Instructions
 

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9x13-inch pan with parchment paper.
  • 2. Melt butter and chocolate together until smooth; cool slightly.
  • 3. Whisk in sugars, then eggs and vanilla until combined.
  • 4. Sift in flour, cocoa, and salt; fold gently to combine.
  • 5. Spread batter evenly in prepared pan and bake 25–30 minutes until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
  • 6. Cool completely, then cut into ovals with a cookie cutter or knife.
  • 7. Pipe white icing down the center and add crosshatch lines for laces.
  • 8. Serve immediately or store for later.

Notes

For extra fudginess, remove brownies from oven when slightly underbaked in the center.
Brownies can be made 2 days ahead or frozen for up to 2 months.
Decorate after thawing for best results.
