  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla bean paste
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup caramel flavored chips
  • Sea salt flakes to taste
  • Caramel sauce or dulce de leche to taste

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Using a stand mixer, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs and vanilla bean paste to the butter-sugar mixture and mix until fully combined.
  • Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Fold in chocolate chips and caramel-flavored chips.
  • Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart, and sprinkle with sea salt flakes.
  • Bake for 8-10 minutes and cool on a wire rack for about 5 minutes.

Notes

- Substitute coconut oil for a dairy-free option.
- Dark brown sugar can be used for a richer taste.
