  • 8 oz semi-sweet or dark chocolate finely chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter optional
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla bean paste optional
  • Pinch of salt optional

Instructions
 

  • Finely chop the chocolate and place it in a heatproof bowl.
  • In a small saucepan, heat the cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer.
  • Pour the hot cream over the chopped chocolate. Let it sit for 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Stir the mixture until smooth and glossy. Add butter, vanilla, and salt if desired.
  • For a glaze, cool slightly. For frosting, let cool or refrigerate until spreadable.
