Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and both sugars until smooth and light, about 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Beat in the eggs, one at a time, fully incorporating each before adding the next. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually blend into the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  • Gently fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased cookie sheets, leaving space between each.

Baking

  • Bake for 9 to 11 minutes, until the edges are golden and centers look slightly soft.
  • Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For deeper flavor, consider browning the butter. Chill the dough if you prefer thicker cookies. Check cookies early to avoid overbaking.
