Brownie Base

  • 1 cup unsalted butter Adds rich flavor and moisture.

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder Provides chocolatey goodness.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • Melt the butter in a large bowl, then mix in the sugar until well blended.
  • Add in the eggs one at a time, stirring in the vanilla extract until the mixture is creamy.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt to combine.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing gently until just combined.
  • Fold in the roasted cherries with a spatula.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.

Baking

  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Allow to cool in the pan, then slice into squares and serve while slightly warm.

Notes

For best results, do not overmix the batter. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days or refrigerate for a week. Can be frozen for up to three months.
