Ingredients
  

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla bean paste
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • Optional: 1/2 teaspoon sea salt for topping

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
  • In a large bowl, cream the softened butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs one at a time and mix well after each addition; stir in vanilla bean paste.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until fully incorporated.
  • Fold in chocolate chips gently.
  • Press half the dough into the bottom of the prepared baking dish; drizzle caramel sauce over it.
  • Drop spoonfuls of remaining dough on top of the caramel layer and spread gently.
  • Bake for 25–30 minutes or until golden brown on top.
  • Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars; sprinkle with sea salt if desired.
