Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Core and slice 4 medium apples into even slices.
  • In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, 2 tablespoons cinnamon, 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, and 1/4 cup water. Toss until evenly coated.
  • Transfer the mixture to a baking dish, including any cinnamon-y liquid.

Baking

  • Bake for 25–30 minutes until the apples are soft when pierced with a fork.

Serving

  • Spoon the baked apples into bowls, drizzling some of the cinnamon syrup over the top.

Notes

Slice the apples with intention for desired texture. Ensure even coating of cinnamon to avoid bitter clumps. Don't skip the lemon juice, and trust the fork test for doneness.
