Description

A simple recipe for making classic sweet and sticky popcorn balls at home, perfect for snacks or parties.

Ingredients

Scale

12 cups popped popcorn (about 1/2 cup unpopped kernels)

1/2 cup unsalted butter

1 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup light corn syrup

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste

Optional: cooking spray or extra butter for hands

Instructions

1. Pop the popcorn according to package directions. Remove any unpopped kernels. Place in a large heatproof bowl.

2. In a medium saucepan, combine butter, sugar, corn syrup, and salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring, until butter is melted and sugar dissolved.

3. Bring mixture to a boil without stirring. Boil for 2-3 minutes, then remove from heat. Stir in vanilla bean paste.

4. Carefully pour hot syrup over popcorn. Stir gently until evenly coated.

5. Cool until mixture is warm and pliable, about 5-10 minutes. Grease hands with butter or cooking spray.

6. Form popcorn into 3-inch balls, pressing firmly.

7. Place on wax paper or parchment to cool completely. Store in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days.

Notes

Grease hands with butter or cooking spray before forming balls.

Store completely cooled popcorn balls in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3-4 days.
