Description
A delicious tart with buttery crust, cinnamon sugar, and a gooey salted caramel sauce drizzled on top.
Ingredients
1½ cups all-purpose flour
¼ cup granulated sugar
¼ tsp salt
¼ cup unsalted butter, cold, cut into cubes
1 egg yolk
5–6 tbsp ice cold water
4 large honeycrisp apples, sliced thin and cored
⅓ cup brown sugar
Juice of 1 lemon
2 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp vanilla bean paste
2 tbsp unsalted butter, for dotting
Extra pinch of sugar for topping
1 cup granulated sugar
6 tbsp unsalted butter
½ cup heavy cream
1 tsp flaky sea salt
Vanilla ice cream for serving
Instructions
1. In a food processor, pulse flour, granulated sugar, and salt. Add butter and pulse until crumbly.
2. Add egg yolk and pulse to combine. Add water gradually until dough forms a ball.
3. Knead dough slightly, wrap, and chill for 30 minutes.
4. Toss apples with brown sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and vanilla. Let sit for 15-20 minutes.
5. Preheat oven to 350°F. Roll dough and fit into a greased tart pan. Chill for 10 minutes.
6. Arrange apples in the tart shell, sprinkle with sugar, dot with butter, and bake for 60 minutes.
7. For caramel, melt sugar over medium heat, add butter, cream, and salt. Stir to combine.
8. Cool tart, drizzle with caramel, and serve with ice cream.
Notes
Chill the dough for easier handling.
Use Honeycrisp apples for best results.
