Creepy and delicious, these Bloody Eyeball Candy Apples are the ultimate Halloween treat—crunchy apples coated in glossy red candy and decorated with spooky eyeballs.
Ingredients
6 Granny Smith apples
6 wooden sticks
2 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup light corn syrup
3/4 cup water
1/2 tsp red gel food coloring
1 cup white chocolate or candy melts
6 edible sugar eyes or gummy circles
Red and black decorating gel
Instructions
1. Wash and dry apples thoroughly, then insert wooden sticks.
2. In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water.
3. Bring mixture to a boil and heat to 300°F (hard-crack stage).
4. Remove from heat, stir in red gel coloring.
5. Dip apples quickly, coating evenly, and place on greased parchment.
6. Melt white chocolate and spread a circle for the “eye.”
7. Press an edible eye in the center and let set.
8. Use red gel to draw bloodshot veins, and black gel for creepy detail.
9. Allow apples to cool completely before serving.
Notes
Best eaten within 2 days for freshness.
Use parchment, not wax paper, to avoid sticking.
