A cozy, comforting dessert with juicy apples and a buttery oat topping.
Ingredients
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup old-fashioned oats
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup cold butter, cut in pieces
6 cups chopped peeled tart apples (6 medium)
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon lemon juice
Instructions
1. Heat oven to 375°F. Spray an 8-inch square baking dish with cooking spray.
2. In a medium bowl, mix flour, oats, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Cut in butter until crumbly. Set aside.
3. In a large bowl, mix apples, granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Spread in dish. Sprinkle streusel on top.
4. Bake 30 to 35 minutes until topping is golden brown and juices bubble.
5. Cool at least 20 minutes before serving.
Notes
Use tart apples like Granny Smith for best results.
Lemon juice prevents apples from browning.
