So, this is the part where I’m supposed to write something super impressive about myself, right? Well, here goes nothing…

I’m just a girl with a massive sweet tooth and an even bigger collection of cake pans (seriously, my kitchen cabinets are BEGGING for mercy). Welcome to TasteToRate!

How This All Started

Truth? I never planned to start a baking blog. It just kinda happened after my friends kept bugging me for recipes whenever I’d bring treats to get-togethers. “Abby, you HAVE to give me the recipe for these brownies!” became a phrase I heard way too often.

I grew up watching my mom bake everything from scratch. She wasn’t a professional or anything—just a working mom who believed store-bought cookies were basically a crime against humanity. I’d stand on a rickety stool next to her, probably being more of a mess-maker than a helper, but that’s where the magic started.

Fast forward through a bunch of kitchen disasters (we don’t talk about the Great Caramel Incident of 2018), and here we are!

What You’ll Actually Find Here

No fancy culinary degree hanging on my wall—just years of trial and error, hundreds of YouTube tutorials, and a concerning amount of money spent on vanilla extract. Every recipe here has been made at least 3-4 times in my normal, sometimes chaotic kitchen with my temperamental oven that runs hot on Tuesdays (I swear it has a mind of its own).

I test these recipes with regular ingredients you can actually find at normal grocery stores because who has time to hunt down specialty items for a Wednesday night baking session?

The Real Me

When I’m not elbow-deep in cookie dough or trying to perfect my cheesecake swirl technique:

  • I’m probably at my day job (yes, I have one of those—this blog doesn’t pay the bills… yet!)
  • Walking my chunky rescue dog, Muffin (yes, I named my dog after a baked good, fight me)
  • Convincing myself that watching baking shows counts as “research”
  • Trying to keep my houseplants alive (with significantly less success than my sourdough starter)
